Why a Coffee Nap?
I’m sure you have not heard about coffee naps before. If you have heard, you will not have any business on this page, will you? I am not quite sure, but in some sources, it is also referred to as caffeine nap. Anyway, I am sure that both are used in the same sense. In some sources, it is called power nap, which is actually a longer sleep. The Power nap and coffee nap are different in terms of duration. But both have the same purpose and benefits.
I am the one who says: “How to sleep after drinking coffee?” I give you a tip from the beginning. Coffee naps are not for everyone. If you are someone like me who has a problem with sleep; Do not force yourself to do caffeine nap: it is not for us. The so-called Caffeine nap is suitable for people who fall asleep quickly. If you want to be successful in this, try it when you are too sleepy; It is in your best interest to try it when you wake up in the morning because you do not want to be sleepless at night. So do not try it at night. The best is try the power nap activity.
If you’re feeling run down during the day, you might consider a coffee nap. This is where you consume some coffee and caffeine but then go right to sleep. It will be some time before the coffee kicks in so you’ll get the benefits of the nap, but feel refreshed once you wake up and alert as the coffee you have consumed will keep you alert.
It is a short nap of about 15-20 minutes. This can eliminate drowsiness as well as fatigue that you may be experiencing and is more effective than just a straight nap. You drink some coffee and then go to sleep for a short duration. Once you wake up, it kicks in and you’ll get the benefits from the short nap as well as the coffee. It’s been shown that a coffee nap works better than just a straight cup of coffee or a regular nap without consuming coffee before sleeping.
When we nap, the brain removes what is called adenosine which is what makes us drowsy. When we drink coffee the receptors where adenosine gets is blocked so you eliminate the drowsy feeling you experience. While drinking coffee, it takes about 20 minutes before the effects of it start to work. This is the perfect time to nap for a short duration. Once you wake up, it kicks in and you feel more refreshed for the rest of the day. If you need more energy during the day, try consuming some coffee and then having a short nap immediately after you drink it.
Wake up feeling refreshed
During the day, the adenosine in the body builds up as this is a by-product of our normal brain activity. As the day wears on, we have a build up of this adenosine and this is what makes us feel tired and run down. By having some coffee and then taking a nap after drinking the beverage, the extra jolt from the coffee will allow you to get on with your day.
One study showed that individuals that have a 15-minute coffee nap made fewer mistakes in a driving simulator than if they just drank it without the short nap. The group that had the coffee nap were more consistently alert through out the simulation than those in the other group. Another study showed that those that had coffee naps did netter when given a series of memory tests.
How to Make a Coffee Nap Work
The trick with it is to consume the coffee right away and then go to sleep before the coffee has a chance to kick in. The nap is a short duration because you want the effects of the coffee to work when you wake up so you feel alert as well as rested. You want to drink your coffee and then set a timer so you have a brief 15-20-minute nap and then wake up feeling refreshed and ready to work again.
If you feel run down during the day and need more energy, try combining your coffee drinking with a short nap. Drink some coffee and then have a short nap of about 15-20 minutes. When you wake up, it will kick in and you’ll have more energy get on with your busy day.
