How to clean coffee maker with vinegar
Who does not like coffee? I do not have a friend who does not like coffee, probably fewer people do not like coffee.
If you’re using coffee machine at home or at work, you probably did not do a detailed cleaning of it. What you do not know is; Mold accumulates in the reservoir of coffee machines that have not been cleaned since long time. This will deprive you of good coffee. Even worse, the accumulating bacteria can make you sick.
To get rid of it, it is not safe to clean it with only hot water. I will share my cleansing with you, in fact, it is not a huge secret, nor is it a method I have developed.
I add vinegar to hot water while I clean my coffee maker pot. Do not be afraid I do not do it all the time. You only need to do it once a month. Depending on the quality of the water you use, you can adjust your routine cleanliness to suit your water quality. If you are using a soft water type, you can increase the cleaning time to 2 months.
Do not forget that you must wash the jug and filter daily. If you have water stains on your jug, you can use vinegar while washing it, it is a good solution for stains. Of course it also works for stains on coffee cups.
You can clean your electric coffee machine by applying this. I have not tried it with an espresso machine.
How often you make coffee is not much of a problem, molds will multiply anyway, so you should not forget to clean it. You must follow these paths to destroy lime deposits and molds.
Follow these steps to clean the coffee maker
- Fill the water tank with equal amounts of water and white vinegar. I sometimes add lemon essential oil to the mixture, you can try it too if you want.
- Put the jug in place and start the machine. No need to put paper filter and coffee in basket. This mixture will pass through the machine. You can take a 5-10 minute break when you are halfway up.
- Brew once with clean water to clean the machine from the smell of vinegar. If you still smell the vinegar smell, make a brew with clean water again.
- Empty the carafe and rinse it thoroughly with the dishwashing detergent.
By now, your machine is ready for quicker and better quality brewing.
